Terms of use
Last updated 2 November 2026
These terms apply when you use CO2 Counter (co2counter.co.uk), run by Jack Brown ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. Contact: CO2counter@outlook.com.
What CO2 Counter is
CO2 Counter estimates your carbon footprint from your answers to a survey, and suggests ways to reduce it. Results are estimates based on typical published figures, not measurements. They're for general information and aren't financial, investment or professional advice. Check with a qualified adviser before making financial decisions, such as moving a pension.
Your account
You must be 13 or over to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens on your account. Please give a real email address so we can contact you about your account or membership. You can delete your account at any time from the Account page.
Free use and optional support
- CO2 Counter is free to use, including the survey, your full results, tips and guides. You can optionally support it for £2 a year, paid through Stripe. Supporting doesn't change what you can use.
- Support renews automatically each year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time with Manage subscription on the Account page.
- If we change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it applies.
- Refunds: if you change your mind, email us within 14 days of joining or renewing and we'll refund that payment in full.
- Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription. Please cancel it first.
Using the site fairly
Please don't misuse the service: no attempts to break or overload it, access other people's data, or copy and resell its content. Names, usernames and group names must not be offensive, abusive or misleading, and you mustn't use CO2 Counter to harass anyone. We may suspend accounts that do.
You can report a person or group, or block someone, with the … button next to them on the Friends page. We review reports within 24 hours and will remove offensive names or groups, and suspend accounts that break these terms.
Our content
The site's text, design, calculations and guides belong to us or our licensors. You're welcome to use your own results however you like.
Availability and changes
We'll try to keep the site available and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update features, data sources and estimates over time. If we ever close the service, we'll give notice and refund supporters for any unused part of their year.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected. Otherwise, we're not responsible for decisions you make based on estimates from the site, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the previous 12 months.
Changes and law
We may update these terms. If a change affects your support payments, we'll let you know in advance. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live in the UK.
